Exfoliate, Hydrate, Repeat
The Fall Skin Reset: Exfoliation, Hydration & Ingrown Hair Prevention
Summer skin has been through a lot. Sun, sweat, swimming, shaving and more time outdoors can all take their toll.
Then fall arrives. The sweaters come out, the air gets drier, and your skin starts asking for a little more attention.
If you sugar regularly, fall is a great time to reset your skincare routine. The formula is simple: exfoliate, hydrate and leave those ingrown hairs alone.
Exfoliate, Don't Overdo It
Regular exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells that can build up around the hair follicle and contribute to ingrown hairs.
But more isn't better.
Scrubbing harder or exfoliating every day can leave your skin irritated and dry. Instead, keep it gentle and consistent, generally a few times a week.
After sugaring, give your skin time to settle before exfoliating again.
Think maintenance, not punishment.
Hydrate. Your Skin Will Thank You.
Cooler weather and indoor heating can leave skin feeling dry and tight. Add regular hair removal to the mix and your skin may need some extra moisture.
A good moisturizer or body oil helps keep skin soft and supports a healthy skin barrier.
And if you're exfoliating, hydration is especially important.
Exfoliate thoughtfully. Hydrate consistently.
Keep Ingrown Hairs in Check
Ingrown hairs can be influenced by hair removal, dead skin buildup, friction and your individual hair-growth pattern.
Sugaring removes hair in the direction of growth, but your at-home routine still matters.
To help keep ingrown hairs under control:
Exfoliate gently to prevent buildup.
Moisturize regularly to keep skin soft.
Don't pick or squeeze ingrown hairs. We know. It's tempting. Don't.
Reduce friction from tight clothing, particularly after sugaring.
Give your skin time to recover before exfoliating after an appointment.
If ingrown hairs are a regular issue, your sugarist can help you find an aftercare routine that works for your skin.
Your Fall Skin Reset
You don't need a bathroom cabinet full of new products to give your skin a fall reset. Start with the basics:
Exfoliate. Hydrate. Don't pick. Repeat.
If your skin needs a little extra help, the right aftercare products can make it easier to keep that routine on track. The Sugar Stop carries products, including Bushbalm, designed to support your skin between sugaring appointments.
The goal isn't a complicated routine. It's finding what works for your skin and sticking with it.
